Dear Friends,

We are in the middle of a presidential primary season here in the United States.  It’s all that is on the news…that, and the coronavirus (which I pray for protection from this disease for all citizens of the world).  This past Monday was election day in Israel, and it looks like it was not decisive.

Around the world we see chaos … war … famine … natural disasters … conflict … pain … suffering … corruption … division … hate … bigotry.  It is a mess!  It seems to me that Humpty Dumpty and the world have a lot in common… “All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty together again.”

What this world needs is a real solution!  I would suggest the world needs is a leader who is…absolutely incorruptible…absolutely powerful…and absolutely good who can put things back together.

This past week I realized what my heart is most longing for:  The Return of the King!  I read dozens of chapters in the Bible about the return of Messiah and His rule as King during the Millennium—the 1,000-year reign of Christ on the throne on earth.

It is difficult for me to fully express the joy, anticipation and the deep longing in my heart that comes from the fulfillment of the return of my King!  And whether you know it or not, He is your King as well!  He is who your heart is longing for.

1 Timothy 6:15 (NLT) For at just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only almighty God, the King of all kings and Lord of all lords.

Revelation 17:14 (NLT) Together they will go to war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will defeat them because he is Lord of all lords and King of all kings. And his called and chosen and faithful ones will be with him.”

Revelation 19:16 (NLT) On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords.

Philippians 2:9–11 (NLT) Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

You think this is a Christmas passage (Isaiah 9:6-7), but it is actually a Jesus ruling the earth passage…

Isaiah 9:6–7 (NLT) For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!

  1. Because Satan and his demons will be bound for a thousand years.

Revelation 20:2 (NLT) He seized the dragon—that old serpent, who is the devil, Satan—and bound him in chains for a thousand years.

  1. Because the world will have a government that is righteous.

Isaiah 32:1 (NLT) Look, a righteous king is coming! And honest princes will rule under him.

  1. Because war will be a thing of the past.

Isaiah 2:4 (NLT) The Lord will mediate between nations and will settle international disputes. They will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will no longer fight against nation, nor train for war anymore.

  1. Because people will live long and fulfilling lives.

Isaiah 65:20a (NLT) “No longer will babies die when only a few days old. No longer will adults die before they have lived a full life. No longer will people be considered old at one hundred!

  1. Because the animals will be restored.

Isaiah 11:6–8 (NLT) In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all. 7 The cow will graze near the bear. The cub and the calf will lie down together. The lion will eat hay like a cow. 8 The baby will play safely near the hole of a cobra. Yes, a little child will put its hand in a nest of deadly snakes without harm.

  1. Because the deserts will bloom, and wasteland will be restored to beauty.

Isaiah 35:1 (NLT) Even the wilderness and desert will be glad in those days. The wasteland will rejoice and blossom with spring crocuses.

  1. Because the world will be filled with joy and gladness.

Isaiah 35:10 (NLT) Those who have been ransomed by the Lord will return. They will enter Jerusalem singing, crowned with everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.

This is what you want.  It is what I want.  This world’s corruption and decay needs to be restored to the beauty it was when God created it.  No more poverty…no more injustice…no more suffering…no more hate…no more killing…no more disease…because He will wipe every tear from our eyes.

My heart yearns for the day when my Savior and my King is ruling the world from David’s throne in Jerusalem…the day when the Prince of Peace makes justice pour down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream!

Onward in expectant hope,
Pastor Gary
